Asus Zenfone Pegasus 3; a New Budget-Friendlier Member of the Zenfone 3 Family
Asus’s ambition and aggressiveness in gaining more established ground in the mobile device market becomes more apparent this year. Asus has announced the release of all three variants of its Zenfone 3 line this May. By announcing the release of the fourth member of the family, which is called Asus Zenfone Pegasus 3, one month later, Asus successfully reaffirms its existence as a leading mobile device manufacturer that is ready to satisfy all customers of all budget levels. Although the new device is the fourth in Zenfone 3 series, it is significantly different from the other three Zenfone 3 variants, which include the original, Ultra and Deluxe models. To come to the point, the features that Pegasus 3 offers affirm its status as an entry-level variant that is expected to be budget-friendlier than its three older brothers.

Specification-wise, compared to the other three members of the Zenfone 3 family, Pegasus 3 appears slightly more inferior in almost all segments. However, for an entry-level smartphone that features Marshmallow OS, especially with price that is obviously more affordable, it is still considered a powerful and appealing gadget.

Let’s take a look at some features that Pegasus 3 offers and how they compare with those of other Zenfone 3 variants. Physically, Pegasus 3 looks and feels strong and sturdy with its metal unibody. It looks modern and elegant at its front with its curved 720p screen, which displays everything with uncompromised clarity, though the screen is second-rate if compared to the 1080p screen of its three brothers. Above the screen is a 5-MP selfie camera that is great for capturing still portrait and streaming lagless live video during a voice call. The 13-MP camera on the back also guarantees clear image and video capture. However, other members of the family are known to have better cameras with 8-MP camera on their front and 16-MP or 23-MP camera on their back.

Pegasus 3 is sufficiently powerful to handle today’s and future apps. Its octa-core 1.3GHz guarantees smooth and lagless display and its 2-GB or 3-GB RAM handles memory-hungry apps as well as multitasking excellently. The model with 2 GB of RAM comes with built-in 16 GB of internal storage whereas the one with 3-GB RAM comes with 32 GB of storage. You can expand the storage capacity further using external memory card.

The best thing about Pegasus 3 is its price. At the time of its release, the 16-GB model is tagged at $200 and the 32-GB model is tagged at $230. Pegasus 3 is thus expected to be a budget-friendly yet reasonably powerful option for customers who wish to try Asus’s latest mobile device.
